idlwave-shell-use-toolbar is a variable defined in `idlw-shell.el'.
Its value is

Documentation:
Non-nil means, use the debugging toolbar in all IDL related buffers.
Starting the shell will then add the toolbar to all idlwave-mode buffers.
Exiting the shell will removed everywhere.
Available on XEmacs and on Emacs 21.x or later.
At any time you can toggle the display of the toolbar with
`C-c C-d C-t' (`idlwave-shell-toggle-toolbar').

You can customize this variable.
