locate-ls-subdir-switches is a variable defined in `locate.el'.
Its value is

"-al"

Documentation:
`ls' switches for inserting subdirectories in `*Locate*' buffers.
This should contain the "-l" switch, but not the "-F" or "-b" switches.

You can customize this variable.

This variable was introduced, or its default value was changed, in version 22.1 of Emacs.
